Kitten Kaboodles

Sage's KittensDr. Schindler of Eastern Shore Pet Hospital in Fairhope, AL works with the Baldwin County Humane Society and their Kitten Kaboodles program to find new home for kittens and adult cats. He volunteers his time and expertise to provide necessary quality medical care to cats and kittens. He also provides them with food, shelter, and care until they are adopted.

The innovative Kitten Kaboodle program primarily places kittens and adult cats in wonderful new homes through select local pet stores. These stores have graciously entered into an agreement with the Humane Society to donate space in their stores to display and place adoptable felines. The stores provide litter and keep the cages immaculately clean. The stores’ staffs complete the Humane Society‘s Adoption Contract for each feline, and screen potential owners for suitability. The Humane Society provides each feline the following veterinary care (some of it through Dr. Schindler) prior to inclusion in the program:

  • Combo test for Feline Aids & Leukemia
  • First FVRCP (feline distemper) inoculation
  • Deworming -fecal exam that must show negative for internal parasites
  • Visual skin exam that must be negative for ringworm
  • Rabies inoculation (adult felines only)

Adopters pay an adoption fee, and receive a voucher to have the feline spayed or neutered at no extra cost. This fee helps to offset a portion of the cost incurred for each cat’s veterinarian care prior to inclusion in the program, and for the altering of each feline.
