Dr. Schindler of Eastern Shore Pet Hospital in Fairhope, AL works with the Baldwin County Humane Society, a 501c3 non-profit organization, to help, protect, and heal abused, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats in Fairhope. He serves on the Baldwin County Humane Society's Board of Directors and volunteers his time and expertise to provide necessary quality medical care to the dogs and cats. He also provides the dogs and cats with food, shelter, and care until they are adopted.
Since 1979 the Baldwin County Humane Society has provided direct services to help and protect abused, abandoned and neglected pets. With only a small staff and a working group of highly dedicated volunteers, including Dr. Schindler, the Baldwin County Humane Society coordinates a countywide effort to provide rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of hundreds of these pets each year. They are not a shelter, nor do they provide animal control services, as Alabama state law mandates these services be provided by local and county government. The Baldwin County Humane Society is an adoption agency, so they focus their efforts on rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing displaced pets. Although their chief role is as an “adoption agency” for pets, they are proud to provide the additional programs and services described on their website.
The Humane Society has recruited a limited number of wonderful families who will keep pets in their homes and work in conjunction with other volunteers to actively seek permanent homes. But the Humane Society desperately needs more foster homes! If you would like more information about fostering a pet in your home, contact them at 251-928-4585 ext 100.
