DEUCE: Tennis for Two on October 3, 2009, is the inaugural ladies and gents team doubles play that will benefit the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute and Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!). Ladies will play at The Lakewood Club at The Colony at The Grand; gents will play at the Point Clear Tennis Club.
Barbara Mudd, Event Chairman, is renowned in the community for her dedication and service. She is a BARC! Board Member and was instrumental in establishing Polo at the Point and Point Clear Charities that benefit the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.
Mudd and Kelsey Noojin, Event Co-Chairman, are excited for this to be the first time to have a combined ladies and men’s tournament. Mudd commented “Its also the first time we’ve had a single fundraiser for my two favorite charities. Plus, all money raised with stay local.”
All players and sponsors are invited to the DEUCE: Tennis for Two Calcutta this Friday, October 2, 2009, at The Lakewood Club at the Colony. Pro-Am exhibition at 6:00pm with local pros Brian Jordan, Butch Russell, Joseph O’Dwyer and Jim McLean. Calcutta begins at 7:30 pm; live music by Robert Sully.
More players are needed in the tournament this Saturday to make the fundraising goal of 60 women and 40 men. Entry fee is $50 per player and includes hat, towel and meals. To register, call Barbara Mudd at 251-605-2184.
Select sponsorships are available: $1000 Club Sponsor, $500 Court Sponsor, and $200 Love Sponsor (includes two player fees and $100 tax-deductible donation to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.)
The public is invited to both tennis clubs to watch tournament play at no charge.
